This must have been a righteous group as the sun has shone on them throughout this January walking break. The Yorkshire Dales were displayed at their very best with crisp frost on the hilltops and clear blue skies providing views into the deep, green valleys dotted with stone barns and hardy sheep.
This enthusiastic band of walkers, (ably led by Rich,) in their rainbow spectrum of coats, embraced the nip in the air each morning to scale the heights of Fremington Ridge overlooking Arkle Beck in Arkengarthdale and the popular Swaledale; as well as our iconic Penhill rising to 546m and visible from the Lodge.
Tonight to celebrate their walking achievement and newly made friendships, dinner will be enjoyed at Penley’s Bistro in the centre of the market town of Leyburn. Henry and Penny, relieved of the hosting duties, are looking forward to sharing in their tales of the week. These include some impressive and amusing sideslips down the ridge slopes to sit bottoms firmly in several inches of mud – not one person, but several! Unfortunately this was not captured on camera as the group at the top of the hill was. Happy New Year to you all – a wonderful start to 2017.

Just found these photos whilst booking up for Easter 2018. It was great fun and we did have very good weather, albeit cold. Might just have to do it again!!
Such happy memories. Looking forward to our three peaks adventure next April!
