Walking Holidays in the Yorkshire Dales
Eastfield Lodge Welcomes you to Leyburn & the Yorkshire Dales
Wensleydale is perhaps the most celebrated of the Yorkshire Dales. The scenery is breathtaking and the people are known for their genuine warmth and hospitality.
This exquisite corner of North Yorkshire is characterised by traditional market towns and charming villages, where attractive stone buildings host award-winning pubs, cafes, quaint shops and historical tourist attractions.

From these places, walkers venture out on a network of footpaths across flower-filled meadows, high fells, heather moors and broadleaf woodland, scattered with sheep, cattle, stone barns, drystone walls and an abundance of waterfalls. There are walks for everyone, from high level adventures across the fells to riverside strolls between picturesque villages.
People are attracted to Wensleydale because of its seemingly changeless natural beauty and a wealth of cultural heritage and places of interest, whilst having the opportunity to walk, cycle, mountain bike or even ride horses.
You would need at least a year to visit the many places of interest in and around Wensleydale - tourist attractions include castles, museums, gardens, cathedrals, ruins, markets, racing stables, theatres, historic towns, (such as Middleham, Richmond and Ripon), and classic Dales gems, (such as Leyburn, Aysgarth, Kettlewell, Hawes and Reeth). In addition, within an hour's drive you can be in major historic centres such as York, Durham and Harrogate.
Gastronomically, Wensleydale is a centre of excellence. It boasts numerous outstanding pubs, restaurants and food shops. Along with consistently excellent food, traditional pubs serve superbly kept and locally brewed real ales. Wensleydale (and the Yorkshire Dales in general) is a hive of activity where local food produce is concerned and Leyburn hosts the celebrated Dales Festival of Food and Drink each May.
